Welcome to Aortic Live

Dear Colleagues,

the aorta is the one and only tube through which modern cardiac and vascular surgeons and cardiologists are connected in their daily work. In consequence, after the great success of the 2012 Aortic Live Symposium with more than 250 attendees from 27 countries, we want to announce an expanding 2nd Aortic Live Symposium in Essen, on September 11 – 13, 2014.

There will be up to 20 live transmissions from 3 ORs and our
hybrid room including remote transmissions from Marseille, France, Philadelphia, USA, and Beijing, China. We are happy to have excellent international cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons with us performing their elaborate procedures from the aortic valve down to the bifurcation.

Edited video presentations focusing on hybrid and interventional procedures with extra attention on evolving endovascular and transcatheter techniques dealing with aortic valve, ascending aorta, the arch, and thoracoabdominal aorta will be demonstrated.

The highly appreciated wet lab opportunities have been expanded, thus many “hands on” courses under expert guidance are offered to our young surgical and interventional colleagues.

To open up the meeting to more interested groups worldwide, a call for poster presentation for all specialties dealing with the aorta is introduced with competitive character. The best 5 posters will be selected by an international jury for oral presentation and attractive prizes for the best 2 posters/oral presentations will be awarded.

To underline the innovative character of the meeting, participation via internet is planned for interested colleagues unable to personally attend including the chance to pose questions to our world class faculty. Active participation of the audience via voting system will be integrated.

For recreation after compact two and a half days of intensive learning, 2 recreational social events are offered.

We are proud that costs for attending can be kept low and cordially invite you to join us in Essen!
